C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ started with a humble concrete sidewalk.

Throughout each decade of C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾'s proud history, the company has consistently worked to achieve greater heights:

1940s

In 1947, after serving their country as members of the military during World War II, brothers Otis P. (O.P.) and William T. (W.T.) C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ agreed to complete a sidewalk project for Plaza Presbyterian Church for the sum of $125. They accomplished this first project with simple equipment: a wheelbarrow, a level, two picks, three shovels and a used pickup truck with over 100,000 miles on the odometer.

C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ quickly expanded throughout North Carolina and into South Carolina. The first major South Carolina project was the Greer Dam built on the South Tyger River. We also built our first water and wastewater treatment plant at Pilot Mountain, North Carolina.

C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ continued to build water and waste treatment plants as well as bridges across the Carolinas. At every project we demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence, earning the respect of employees, clients, and vendors who worked for and with us.

1970s

C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ became known as a full-service general contractor throughout the Carolinas and Virginia and our work on water and wastewater treatments plants grew considerably. We managed turnkey bridge and highway projects, which included bridges on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and the Maury River Twin Delta Bridges in Virginia.

C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ experienced great growth during the 1980s. We entered into a joint venture to build the Powerhouse and Visitors Center at the Richard B. Russell Dam located in Georgia. C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ also expanded its interstate bridge building to Georgia.

C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ purchased a small mechanical company in South Carolina to expand its industrial capabilities. C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾'s expansion created the need for a more serious investment in the technological infrastructure of the company. Offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Spartanburg were linked by an IT network to provide greater communication and speed on projects.

2000s

C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ continued its regional expansion by opening a Georgia office. As C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ expanded throughout the Southeast, we focused on growing our capabilities and expertise in alternative delivery methods in all its markets. Traditional hard bid markets, water and wastewater and transportation, turned to design build and CMAR, allowing owners to choose their construction partner based on qualifications and price versus only price.

In the late 2000’s, C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ embarked on its first project over $100 million. This project was an alternate delivery, Engineer Procure Construct (EPC), material handling system to move and store coal, ash and wood. This project was successfully completed in 2011, relying on our 58,000 square foot fabrication shop located in Spartanburg, South Carolina to ensure quality and schedules were met.

As the 2020’s begin, C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ continues to look for innovative ways to serve our clients in all of our markets. Working closely with our clients and looking at project challenges in new ways, has and will continue to be key to C7ÓéÀÖ¹Ù·½Íøվ’s success story.
